A spacious room near her personal rooms, her office is lined with shelves filled with scrolls and books in various states of completion, and the walls are a warm light tan with lamps placed for optimal lighting. A large, honey-toned wood desk with an upright cushioned chair stands in the center with square baskets at the corners filled with stacks of papers, various inks, seals, and pens spanning the space between them. Her desk is mostly tidy, but there are larger baskets on either side of her desk piled with more books and papers she has yet to get to. In front of the desk are two more matching chairs for visitors, and toward the back of her office near the window is a sage green settee with a nearby table whose top is nearly hidden by yet another stack of books, an oil lamp, coaster, and her folding writing desk. It’s clear she does most of her work there, when the project isn’t so large she needs the more expansive desk space, and she’s frequently been found asleep there when she’s worked late into the night. In front of the window is a window box with a variety of blooming, cheerfully variegated flowers and delightfully scented herbs. There’s a small fireplace in the corner with a basket of fruit on the mantle and a kettle sitting on the hearthstones that the servants fill for her in the morning, as she prefers to make her own tea and not bother the castle staff - she’s used to doing things for herself. The entire space is bright and warm and comfortable, and smells of parchment and flowers.
